MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- It was a game of back and forth between Manatee County and a local business owner.
- County estimates it will cost about $250,000 to fix problem
- Work is expected to begin July 1
- Underground storm water pipes have collapsed
On Tuesday, county officials took action.
The county voted to go forward with funding a project to repair holes at Cortez Shopping Center.
The owner has not done it and the holes keep getting bigger.
"All they did was put a fence up the next day, they haven't done anything since," Venecia Nedeau, who shops in the complex, told Spectrum Bay News 9 in a previous interview.
The holes are not sinkholes but underground storm water pipes that have collapsed. The shoppers avoid them at any cost.
The county estimates it will cost about $25,000 to fix the problem. Work is expected to begin July 1.
The owner of the shopping center has until the end of June to appeal the decision.
