TAMPA, Fla. -- Starting today, Tampa police are raising awareness on active shooting by hosting a series of seminars. 

  • The first is from 6:30 until 8 p.m. tonight at Hillsborough Community College
  • The second is planned for June 18 at Ragan Park Community Center
  • And the third is set for June 21 at the Tampa Police Athletic League

The idea is to teach community members how to survive an active shooting incident.

The seminar will focus on the Department of Homeland Security's "Run. Hide. Fight." training.  

Attendees will learn strategies, tips and how to develop a plan for handling an active shooter incident. The goal is to help you prepare for the worst. 

This seminar is open to all ages and there are only three seminars planned right now.
