ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-- A fire broke out in the warehouse of a St. Petersburg market Friday.

  • Fire breaks out at Mazzaro's Italian Market
  • Damages total $75,000
  • Investigators have ruled out foul play

Mazzaro's Italian Market, located at 2909 22nd Ave. N., has temporarily closed their doors to clean up and repair damages from the fire.

Authorities say an officer on routine patrol noticed smoke coming out the the store’s warehouse building. When firefighters arrived, they were batting down flames.

Although fire investigators say the fire didn’t spread to any other part of the popular culinary market, it did do significant damage.

"The dry storage, the canned goods ... their breads, their doughs and everything like that," said St. Petersburg Fire Lt. Steven Lawrence. "There’s also a refrigerating unit in there. They lost power to that and lost all the products in there.”

In all, damages are estimated at more than $75,000. Investigators don’t know what started the fire, but they have ruled out any foul play.

According to a Facebook post on their page, no one was injured, and they are working hard to reopen.

The post also said that they will continue to post updates on their page.
