PASCO COUNTY, Fla.-- A Pasco County family is getting some much needed help after losing their home to a fire. Now neighbors are coming together to help the family get back on their feet.

Scott Hall never imagined this would have happened at his home. He and his wife and four sons moved to the area three months ago renting their house.

"I've been praying God would help us buy a house down here because that's where we want to settle stuff like that. And I guess I should have been more specific in how I wanted to do it you know. But, now it's burnt down," Hall said.

Hall's adult daughter was watching two of his younger sons when the fire broke out last Saturday. Luckily no one was hurt. But, the family didn't have insurance yet and lost almost everything they owned. Right now, they're staying at a nearby hotel.

That's when one of their neighbors, who they never met, stepped in. Natasha Koufas got in touch with the family and has spent the last week trying to gather as many donations as she can.

"When I found out that nobody was doing anything I was kind of like well I have friends that have kids. I have contacts that I know of. And we have a donation closet with clothes. And I'm like let me just make some calls let me put some posts out there," Koufas explained.

And the community has responded. Koufas said she's gotten hundreds of messages from people willing to donate items to the family. She has had to get a storage unit to hold everything until the family is able to find a new home.

"We prayed the other night with them about bringing the community together and just in a few days the messages of being thankful and just wanting to help has just been overwhelming and very humbling," she said.

Hall said he and his family are truly thankful for everyone's efforts.

"It's hard to imagine strangers that you've never met before being that kind hearted and have that kind of love for people compassion. So that means a lot when people does that that's to show that there's still good people in the world, that there's still love in the world and compassion in the world," he explained.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released. Koufas said she’s hoping to have a fundraiser for the family sometime soon. In the mean time, she is asking anyone who wants to help to reach out to her on Facebook. You can also make monetary donations on Natasha’s fundraising page as well as the family's GoFundMe page.
