  • Investigators say man stepped in front of motorcycle
  • Both motorcyclist and pedestrian were killed

New Port Richey Police investigators say the 41-year-old male motorcyclist was traveling north on U.S. 19 on a 2012 Honda at about 10:30 p.m. when the male pedestrian stepped in the path of the motorcycle near Palmetto Road.

Both people were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither person's identity has been released.

The pedestrian was not in a designated crosswalk, and speed doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
