BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- A barricaded man is in custody after firing shots at deputies Sunday morning.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office first responded to a home on Cappleman Loop in Brooksville to conduct a well being check on an individual who was possibly considering self-harm. 

Officials said when deputies arrived on scene they attempted to make contact with the person at the front door and the man fired shots toward the deputies. No deputies were hit or injured, officials said. 

The SWAT team was able to secure the area and make entry into the home, securing the suspect.

The incident began around 3:13 a.m. and ended around 7 a.m. 

Officials said the man is being treated for his crisis and will faces charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers with a firearm.
