TAMPA, Fla. -- After a more than two-hour manhunt, Tampa police early Friday arrested a man who was spotted in a stolen car.

  • Overnight suspect chase in Tampa
  • Police pursued suspect to Hillsborough Ave and 50th St
  • Suspect taken into custody

Officers said the man was suspected of firing at officers.

No officers were injured.

According to authorities, the incident started Thursday night after a 2017 silver Ford Mustang with a black convertible top was spotted at east Osborne Avenue and north 22nd Street.

The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen in a carjacking Sunday.

Officials said the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 26-year-old Andre Antonio Parker, drove off as officer approached. The brief pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a fence at N 50th Street just north of Hillsborough Avenue.

Parker got out of the vehicle and ran off but was apprehended a short distance away just after midnight.

The officers were not injured and did not fire their weapons.

Parker is facing multiple charges, including grand theft auto, aggravated fleeing to elude and leaving the scene of a crash. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
