Residents are reacting to the alleged kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl in Holiday.

"I'm just a little bit shocked that it would even happen so close to home...having two little ones four and two and being a single dad that's just a parent's worse nightmare," said Mattew Wezel.  "I keep them side by side definitely with the older brother definitely have taught him stay close to your younger brother always keep an eye on him whenever you can."

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Mela Court.

Deputies say a Hispanic male approached a 12-year-old girl and attempted to kidnap her by grabbing her arm.

The girl was able to get away and was uninjured, deputies said. The Sheriff's Office conducted a search for the suspect but was unable to locate him.

The suspect is believed to be between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a muscular build and dark short hair. He was also wearing a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, and black gloves.

Residents in the area are now very concerned for the safety of their own children.

"It's really scary as a parent of two it really makes your eyes open up real wide," said Amanda Alverez. "There's always a responsible adult with my children we're always aware of our surroundings. You know your children are your pride and joy so we're always extra careful every time we go out."
