NATIONWIDE – A malfunctioning toothbrush is being recalled after warnings that it might overheat and potentially cause a fire.

Water Pik, Inc. issued a voluntary recall for Sonic-Fusion flossing toothbrushes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the brushes' charging bases have reportedly been melting and sparking.

Recalled model:

  • Sonic Fusion: Model SF-01, Serial numbers 17 06 01 through 18 06 28
  • Sonic Fusion: Model SF-02, Serial numbers 17 06 01 through 18 06 28

A total of 3,800 units were sold between June 2017 and June 2018 across the country and Canada.

Anyone with the recalled toothbrush is encouraged to stop using it immediately and unplug the unit. The brushes can be returned to Water Pik, Inc.
