HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. -- Authorities in Hernando County are investigating multiple shooting incidents Thursday afternoon that left two dead.

  • 2 dead in shooting incident, including alleged shooter
  • Deputies say alleged shooter knew 2 of the people he shot
  • Alleged shooter killed by store clerk, officials say

The shootings took place over three locations -- two in Hernando County and one in Pasco County -- according to investigators.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputies says 59-year-old Theodore Parker first shot a woman in Hudson, who also alleges that she had been beaten.

He also shot and killed James Rufus Elswick, 57, at a house located in the 3400 block of Olson Road in Spring Hill.

Parker allegedly knew both of the people he shot.

He then reportedly went to a smoke shop located at 2993 Commercial Way in Spring Hill and shot an employee, Richard Webb Jr., 35. Webb exchanged fire with Parker and killed him, authorities said.

At last report, Webb remains hospitalized, but is expected to recover.

Sheriff Al Neinhuis says deputies believe Parker may have tried to rob the store or take the clerk's vehicle.

The smoke shop clerk was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of the shooting victims or how Parker new them.
