ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Skies will be partly cloudy with some scattered showers and storms coming in from the Gulf between now and sunrise.

The coverage however will be less than the past few mornings.  Lows will be in the mid 70s inland and near 80 at the coast.

Due to recent heavy rains river levels will be running higher. In particular the Withlacoochee and Hillsborough River will likely go up in the next 24 hours due to heavier rains on those basin areas.

The scattered showers and storms will again have an eastward movement Friday, but they will move slower than they have recently.  By the late afternoon to evening most of the storms will end up east of I-75 and tend to die down over inland areas.  Highs will top out in the low 90s.

Winds will decrease Friday and go much lighter for this weekend, getting back to a more typical Florida pattern.  That means boating conditions will be better with calmer seas.

Both Saturday and Sunday will feature mainly afternoon to evening scattered storms with the coverage on Saturday at about 50 percent and Sunday will be up to about 70 percent.

Highs Saturday will be in the low to mid 90s. Sunday will be in the low 90s
