ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man injured. 

Police responded to 3745 33rd Street North shortly before 3 a.m. where they found a man with a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the victim, identified as Edwin Sprague, 49, met up earlier with a woman at a gas station near 32nd Avenue and 34th Street N. They then drove to the Clear View Apartments at 3200 37 Avenue N. where they parked. 

While they were parked, investigators said a vehicle pulled in behind them and two unknown men approached them. An altercation began and at some point, Sprague was shot. 

Police said Sprague drove himself to a nearby business and flagged down a cleaning crew. 

Sprague was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Police have not released any other information on the shooting. Detectives are working to identify the other people involved. 

The investigation is ongoing.
