Today was the day that we finally transitioned away from our onshore flow, so as expected, we didn’t have as many storms in coastal areas and the best coverage ended up being over inland areas of eastern Hillsborough and Polk county.

For Saturday morning, expect partly cloudy to mostly clear skies, and we won’t have the storms coming in off the Gulf of Mexico like we’ve seen recently. But there still could be an isolated storm in the gulf for the morning hours.

Morning lows will be in the mid 70s inland and near 80 at the coast.

Although there will be an isolated storm or two for the morning possible in coastal regions, the bulk of the storms will wait until the afternoon to form. They will start along the sea breeze as it moves in from the gulf and then slowly propagate inland, with a big chunk of the coverage ending up east of I-75 by late in the day going into the evening.

Highs will be in the low 90s before the storms get going.

Keep in mind that because we had an onshore wind the past week we didn’t really get that hot. Now that we’ll have a more typical pattern going forward, you can expect hotter afternoon highs and also much higher heat indices due to more sunshine.

In other words, it will feel like it's above 100 each day.

Expect Sunday to start sunny with quiet conditions, but then thunderstorms will grow and build in intensity through the afternoon, with the coverage peaking from late afternoon to evening.

The storms will tend to move back toward the coast in the evening hours.
