LUTZ, Fla. -- Pasco County deputies have arrested the man accused of firing into an occupied vehicle Friday night, injuring two people in what they say is a road-rage case.

  • Luis Ramund Brito arrested in Lutz road-rage case
  • Deputies say he shot at vehicle that flashed lights at him
  • Man shot in face, woman also injured

Deputies said Luis Ramund Brito, 49, fired a shot at the intersection of Lake Como Drive and Moss Branch Road.

The shooting happened when a couple encountered a vehicle at a four-way stop that did not have lights on. The woman flashed her lights at the other vehicle to alert the driver that his lights were not on.

As both vehicles passed through the intersection, the suspect in the vehicle fired a shotgun blast at the couple's vehicle.

The woman suffered minor injury to her arm, and the man received serious injuries to his face from the blast, though his injury is not thought to be life-threatening.

Pasco deputies say Brito will be booked into the Hillsborough County Jail before being transported to Pasco County Jail.

The couple's names have not been released.

Pasco authorities said Brito's vehicle, a 2006 white Chrysler 300, was found in Tampa.
