PLANT CITY, Fla. -- A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured early Monday when a car crashed into his cruiser in Plant City.

According to authorities, the crash happened on State Road 60 near Smith Ryals Road just before 2 a.m. 

The trooper was in his cruiser at a turnaround point blocking off the closed roadway for a construction project. 

According to authorities, a woman driving westbound on S.R. 60 crashed into the cruiser, despite signs and the cruiser's lights being on. 

The trooper incurred critical injuries but is expected to recover. The woman suffered minor injuries. 

The portion of S.R. 60 will be closed for the next week for an ongoing railroad construction between State Road 39 and Smith Ryals Road. 

The crash remains under investigation, and no more information has been released, including the identities of the driver and trooper.
