NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- The 49-year-old man who was found injured in his New Port Richey apartment when a woman was discovered dead has been arrested.

  • Man arrested in Pasco woman's weekend death
  • Christine Mary Nelson, 49, found dead Pasco in apartment
  • Found injured, Roy Toro now arrested, charged with murder

Roy Toro has been taken into custody and charged with premeditated murder.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest Wednesday morning.

Investigators and forensic teams remained at the scene Tuesday morning where Christine Mary Nelson, 49, was found dead Sunday. Deputies responded to the Sunny Dale Villas on Menifee Court Sunday at about 11 a.m.

Authorities had not released much information about exactly what happened before Nelson's death and also how Toro was injured at the apartment.

Toro has been recovering in an area hospital.

Investigators said Nelson lived in a different apartment at the complex and it remains unclear how she and Toro knew each other.

"I’m pretty upset about it," said neighbor Loretta Vance. "I knew the people. I’m shocked. First time something like this has happened in here."
