  • Damage minimal after fire at Winter Haven Surgery Center
  • Crews were quickly able to knock down flames inside
  • Smoke damage will keep business closed until air cleared out

Firefighters responded to the Winter Haven Surgery Center at 325 Ave B NW after witnesses reported smoke coming from the roof of the building just before 7 p.m.

Crews reported additional smoke from an air conditioning unit upon arriving.

Officials said the firefighters checked the roof before going inside the building. They spotted the smoke and flames coming from an office near the lobby.

Crew were able to quickly knock down the fire, minimizing the damage.

However, due to the smoke distributed throughout the air units, the building has smoke throughout which will cause the business to close until the air can completely be cleared.
