ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning, along with a look at conditions through Friday.

  • Slow moving storms
  • Some showers overnight
  • Drier air on the way

Skies will be partly cloudy overnight into early Tuesday morning with some scattered thunderstorms in the region.

The best chance of storms for the early morning hours will tend to be in coastal regions and in the Gulf of Mexico.

Morning temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s.

Tuesday will again feature scattered storms forming at any time of the day. Don’t be surprised to see a few in the morning and more scattered around in the afternoon and evening.

Otherwise it will be a partly cloudy day, which will help to keep the temperatures in check, with highs around 90.

The storms will wind down Tuesday evening with partly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the mid 70s.

Wednesday will feature some drier air starting to move in from the south. There will still be some scattered storms, but the coverage will start to decrease in the evening as that drier air starts moving in.

Highs will be in the low 90s that day.

After that point the drier air will start to impact our rain chance, with decreasing coverage Thursday into Friday. There will storms, but they will mainly be confined to the afternoon to evening and about a 30 percent coverage.

Highs will be hotter due to the lower coverage, topping out in the mid 90s.

Lows each night will be in the mid 70s.
