ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, along with a look at conditions through the end of the week.

  • Changing wind flow
  • Drier air to southeast
  • Hotter, drier conditions

Scattered storms will die down, leading to partly cloudy skies overnight into early Wednesday morning.

Lows will be in the low to mid 70s inland and upper 70s near the coast.

There will be a few isolated storms in coastal regions and in the Gulf of Mexico for the early morning hours, but not nearly as many as the past few days.

Wednesday will be the start of a wind shift for our area. Instead of a wind from the southwest we will have a breeze from the southeast.

The past few days the breeze from the southwest resulted in storms in the Gulf of Mexico and near coastal regions during the early morning hours. Then storms formed farther inland late in the afternoon.

Now, with this breeze from the southeast we’ll go back to a pattern of relatively quiet morning conditions, but then afternoon storms will form and get pushed toward coastal regions late in the day.

Also, in that type of pattern it is hotter due to the later start to the storms. Highs will be a few degrees hotter getting into the mid 90s.

There is drier air out in the Atlantic that is headed in our direction. Since our winds will be from the southeast the next few days, it will pull that drier air into our region, especially Thursday and Friday.

That will result in a lower coverage of storms for our area. That will also lead to more sunshine and therefore again the hotter afternoon highs.

With all that in mind, that is why we’re expecting a drier pattern for the late part of the week headed into the weekend.
