HUDSON, Fla. — Pasco County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested and charged a Hudson man Thursday in connection with a multiple shooting near an apartment complex Wednesday night.

  • Anthony Blount, 21, charged with second degree murder
  • Shooting believed to be drug-related
  • Part of incident captured on apartment surveillance video

Deputies arrested Anthony Blount, 21, and charged him with second degree murder.

According to investigators, Blount was in his truck in the parking lot of the Ridgestone Apartments complex on Little Road Wednesday night when another car pulled up next to his. Two men exited that second car and got into Blount's truck. A third person, Ariel Felder, stayed in the second car.

Moments later, investigators said the two men ran from Blount's truck and got back in the second car, which then tried to back out of its parking space. Blount then got out of his truck, drew a handgun, and fired no less than 13 rounds into the second car as he chased the people in it.

Felder, who was driving, was shot in the back of the head and lost control of the car, which then struck a building.

At that point, investigators say one of the men in the car, Jamarques Codling, got out of the car with his own handgun and began firing at Blount. Blount then fled the scene in his truck.

Codling, who was wounded by gunfire at some point during the exchange of fire, later died. Felder remains in critical condition at an area hospital, according to deputies.

Blount was also shot twice during the encounter. The second man seen in the car has not yet been identified or located.

A large bag of marijuana was found in the parking lot, according to investigators.

No further information has been released.
