ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning, along with a look at conditions through the work week.

  • Storms drift inland
  • Cold front moves into south
  • Timing change midweek

The scattered storms we’ve had will go away, with skies clearing overnight into Tuesday morning.

Lows will be in the low to mid 70s, except for upper 70s at the coast.

Tuesday will start with mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will warm quickly into the low 90s, but then the sea breeze will come in from the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in the temperatures holding steady the rest of the day and even dropping a few degrees as scattered storms form and then slowly drift inland.

Most of the storms will end up east of I-75 by late in the day due to the onshore breeze.

The storms will die down with clearing conditions Tuesday night. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s inland and upper 70s at the coast.

Wednesday will feature a stronger onshore breeze, resulting in scattered showers and storms getting a faster start near the coast. They will move eastward and inland, so most of them will end up well inland by the afternoon to evening.

Highs will be near 90.

Thursday will again feature that onshore breeze due to a rare cold front dropping all the way to the panhandle. Although that front will stall, it will result in onshore winds and slightly drier air for one day.

The front will then fall apart and drift back away from us. That will allow the winds to change direction and come from the southeast, pushing the best chance of storms back to our side of the state on Friday into next weekend.
