ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, along with a preview of conditions through the weekend.

  • Front stalls
  • Onshore wind
  • Showers from the gulf

The front is stalling just to our north. That means we will continue to see very muggy conditions with an onshore breeze from the Gulf of Mexico.

This will also mean we get some scattered storms coming in from the Gulf of Mexico from time to time.

Morning temperatures will be in the mid 70s inland, but near 80 at the coast due to the influence of the warm air off the gulf waters.

There will be scattered storms coming in from the gulf for the early morning hours Thursday. They will all have an eastward movement, so they will start in coastal regions but move inland as the day goes along.

Most of these storms will end up east of I-75 and headed for the other side of the state by the evening.

Highs will be held in check due to the onshore breeze, with coastal areas in the upper 80s and inland areas near 90.

The showers and storms will move out and die down for Thursday night, with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

Lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Friday will feature an abrupt shift in our wind pattern.

Instead of an onshore breeze from the west, the winds will come from the southeast. That will mean the morning will be quiet and mainly sunny, but the afternoon will cloud up quickly, with numerous scattered storms forming.

Those storms will scatter about and move very slowly with a 50 percent coverage. A lot of them will linger into the evening, so keep that in mind if you have outdoor plans Friday night.

Saturday will start sunny, but numerous scattered storms will form Saturday afternoon to evening with at least a 60 percent coverage by the end of the day.

Highs will be near 90.
