ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Thursday into Friday morning, along with a look at expected rainy conditions this weekend.

  • Change in wind pattern Friday
  • Mostly sunny to start Saturday, Sunday
  • Numerous evening showers, thunderstorms

Scattered showers and thunderstorms end this evening.

Friday will bring a change in our wind pattern.

Instead of an onshore breeze, the winds will come from the southeast. That means Friday morning will be quiet and mostly sunny, but the afternoon will cloud up quickly with scattered thunderstorms developing across the area. Highs will be in the low 90s

This weekend, surface high pressure develops north of Florida, resulting in a southeast-to-east wind Saturday and Sunday.

It will be mostly sunny and dry in the mornings, but numerous showers and thunderstorms will move into our area from the east each afternoon and evening.

An east wind flow will be in place through early next week.

This, along with deep moisture, leads to a 50 to 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday through Tuesday.  The timing will be afternoon to evening each day, with storms moving westward.

High temperatures will be in the low 90s each afternoon.  Morning lows will be in the mid 70s.

Starting Wednesday, slightly drier air moves in overhead. This will drop the coverage of showers and storms some.  The timing continues to be afternoon to evening.
