ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa-area weather forecast for late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, along with a look at day-to-day conditions into the weekend.

  • Winds from the east
  • P.M. storms
  • Storms move into the Gulf of Mexico

The storms that roared through the area earlier were huge. They all marched west into the Gulf of Mexico, as expected.

Skies will slowly clear into early Wednesday morning. The lingering rains helped to cool the atmosphere, so most of the morning lows will be in the low 70s inland and mid 70s closer to the coast.

Wednesday will start sunny and dry with temperatures heating up quickly. Highs will again reach the low to mid 90s quickly, but then the afternoon storms will move toward our side of the state.

They will be intense and all have a westward movement toward the gulf in the evening.

The storms will wind down Wednesday evening with slowly clearing skies and lows in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday will feature the same wind pattern, but slightly lower coverage of storms. Those that do form will all move west toward the gulf in the afternoon to evening, but the coverage will likely be down to about 40 or 50 percent due to slightly drier air in the upper atmosphere.

This pattern of an east wind blowing the storms across the state will continue into Friday and the upcoming weekend. The coverage of storms will vary slightly from day to day, going between 40 and 60 percent.

But the timing will remain the same, with daily afternoon to evening storms all having a westward movement toward the gulf.

Highs each day will be in the low to mid 90s, with only slight variation up or down from day to day based on when the storms start.
