HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Two teenage boys stranded in their kayak were rescued Saturday night thanks to four quick-thinking Hillsborough County deputies.

Authorities say the two 16-year-old boys had flipped over in the waters of Bay Bayou RV Resort underneath a bridge. The teens, who were wearing life jackets, were unable to swim to the shoreline due to the current but managed to get back into the kayak.

Authorities say the tide rushing out into the Bay made it difficult for the boys to get back to land on their own.

Deputies were able to quickly get to the scene and tied two tow ropes together to throw to the kayakers and they then worked together to pull the boys back to shore.

Authorities said neither teen was hurt during the incident.
