ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Expect partly cloudy skies with the possibility of a few coastal showers through morning with lows in the low to mid 70s.

  • Coastal showers through the morning
  • Lows in the low to mid 70s
  • Florence unlikely to come near the area

Monday continues the onshore wind pattern. There will be a slight breeze from the southwest.

The sea breeze will form soon and move inland fairly quickly. Again there will be an earlier start to storms in coastal areas. Storms will then move inland and end up toward the east coast later in the day. Slightly drier air overhead should lower the coverage compared to today.

Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90.

The general trend for next week is to have the sea breeze start earlier and move inland faster each day.  So storms will start in the coastal regions, but will tend to drift inland and eastward each day, which is the opposite of the pattern we have seen the past couple weeks.

In that pattern our highs tend to be near 90 each day with storms winding down a little quicker each afternoon.

However, our wind pattern could change again depending on the path of Florence. Although it looks unlikely Florence will come near our region, its wind pattern could affect ours, which could then change our thunderstorm pattern, and possibly even bring us drier air by mid-week.
