ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, along with a look at conditions through Friday evening.

  • P.M. scattered storms
  • Florence heads for NC
  • Multiple tropical storms

Scattered storms have all had a westward movement towards or into the Gulf of Mexico. Skies will be partly cloudy otherwise.

Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Thursday morning will start quiet and mostly clear. There will be a few scattered storms Thursday afternoon with the coverage at about 40 percent. They will move very slowly when they forms with only a slight southward drift.

Highs will be in the low to mid 90s, with inland areas getting the hottest.

The storms will die down Thursday evening with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies overnight. Lows will be near the mid 70s.

Friday will feature slightly drier air due to the northerly breeze wrapping around on the west side of Florence. We’ll still get a few thunderstorms, but the coverage will be down to about 20 to 30 percent. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.

The tropics are very active right now, but luckily for our area all the storms are staying away from Florida.

In the tropics, major Hurricane Florence is in the Atlantic Ocean and will move toward the Carolinas this week. All the other tropical storms will either stay away from land or be very weak with minor impacts.
