ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for this weekend, along with a preview of conditions next week.

A few evening showers will move west to the Gulf of Mexico and it will become mostly clear overnight.

Low temperatures will be a little more comfortable, with most of the area in the low to mid 70s.

Surface high pressure will remain to our north, keeping an east wind in place through the weekend.  Storms will start in the afternoon and move west into the gulf by evening.

Rain chances this weekend will be  to 40 percent to 50 percent. It will be hot each afternoon, with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s Saturday and Sunday, since storms start later.

The east winds continue into next week.  The rain coverage Monday and Tuesday stays at about 50 percent each day. 

Some drier air follows, so the coverage then drops to 30 percent or less Wednesday through Friday.

Afternoon highs will still be in the low 90s. Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.
