LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. -- A fire broke out Saturday at former site of the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort in Longboat Key.

Firefighters responded just after 2 p.m. to the building at 1620 Gulf of Mexico Drive. When they arrived, firefighters saw smoke coming from the sixth floor.

The fire was located and contained, according to authorities. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Gulf of Mexico Drive was closed while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

Sarasota County Fire Rescue assisted Town of Longboat Key Fire Rescue units.

No injuries have been reported.

The resort closed in 2010.
