CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. — Police have identified the bodies of a man and woman found Tuesday in a hotel room at a Clearwater Beach Resort.

Officers responded to the popular Shephard's Beach Resort on S. Gulfview Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The bodies of two adults -- a man and woman -- were found inside a second-floor room by a hotel employee, officials said.
The two victims have been identified as Jeffrey Little and Melissa Little. The preliminary investigation indicates that Jeffrey shot and killed Melissa and then killed himself. The couple resided in New Port Richey.
The hotel remained in operation but did not comment when contacted by Spectrum Bay News 9 on Tuesday.
Police have emphasized there remains no threat to the public.
