Theresa Lassiter, known as "Momma Tee," 62, died on Sunday from cancer.
A consistent advocate for the rights of blacks in the community, Lassiter attended City Council meetings regularly and ran for Mayor in 2017. People said Lassiter believed in personal connections and relationships and her impact will be felt for years in St. Petersburg.
A wake will be held Friday at Bethel Community Church at 6 p.m. 2901 54th Ave. So.
Lassiter's funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ 1137 37th St. S.
A celebration of life will be rescheduled for a later date.
