ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Skies will go from partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight into early Wednesday morning.

Lows will be in the mid to upper 70s near the coast and low 70s in northern counties.

  • More hot days
  • Humidity stays high
  • Isolated afternoon showers

We’ve seen a couple of tiny showers the past couple of evenings, but they’ve been few and far between, so don’t expect much if you see one.

Wednesday will feature mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with just a 10 percent chance of a late day shower.

Highs will be in the low to mid 90s. The winds will be from the east which will keep our sea breeze pinned at the coast again. That’s why we aren’t getting any cooling relief in the afternoon to evening.

That will be the case into Thursday also.

Friday will finally feature a slight shift in the winds in the afternoon to evening. As a result, the highs will drop a couple of degrees in the afternoon, but it will still feel hot and muggy for this time of year.

There will be a 30 percent coverage of scattered showers moving through the area that day.

Saturday will be partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of a shower. Highs will be in the upper 80s with an afternoon sea breeze.

A cold front will approach our area on Sunday. That will help to trigger a few scattered showers and bring our temperatures and humidity down slightly. Although it won’t be a big blast of cool air, it will at least finally break the heat wave. Expect highs around the mid 80s.

The front will then stall near us next Monday into Tuesday with some clouds and moisture lingering. That will help to keep our temperatures in the mid 80s
