TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa woman has been arrested and charged in the death of her infant son.

Megan Rand, 34, is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after her 2-month-old son died while in her care. 

Brennen Rand died on April 24, 2018, from "diffuse pulmonary hemorrhage with hypothermia due to cocaine exposure," according to the medical examiner's office. 

Deputies responded to an unresponsive child at 9715 Long Meadow Drive in Tampa where they found "several items of drug paraphernalia and narcotics usage within close proximity of the victim."

Brennen was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

Rand was arrested on October 16 and booked into the Orient Road jail.
