ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning, along with a preview of conditions throughout the work week.

  • Cooler mornings
  • Couple of rain chances
  • Weekend cold front

Expect lows tonight in the 60s and 50s. Skies will be partly cloudy and winds will lighten up. It will end up just a touch warmer than this morning.

Tuesday morning will be another very comfortable morning. Clouds will be on the increase during the day, so expect partly cloudy skies.

Highs will be in the mid 80s. There will be a few showers that will move into the area late in the day into the evening. The coverage will be limited to about 20 to 30 percent, mainly near the coast.

Tuesday night will be partly cloudy with a few showers possible and lows in the 60s.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and a slight chance of a morning shower. The afternoon will be mainly dry with a light northeast breeze.

Thursday will still start out in the 60s. During the day there will be increasing clouds, with a 30 percent chance of a shower in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 80s.

The best chance of showers will come through on Friday with the next approaching cold front. The timing is still in question, but the right now it looks like the bulk of the rain will move through during the day, then clear out by that evening.

We will fine tune that as we get closer, since we know that people will have outdoor plans. Either way, highs will be in the mid 80s that day.

Also, no matter what, a stronger cold front will sweep through the area Saturday morning, with a few sprinkles and light showers possible near the coast and a stronger northwest wind. That will usher in a cooler air mass, with highs only in the 70s Saturday. That will be the coolest day we have seen since last spring by far.

Saturday night will be cool with lows in the 50s and 60s under clear skies.

Sunday will be sunny to partly cloudy with a slight chance of a passing shower as yet another cold front sweeps through. Highs will be in the 70s Sunday.

It finally felt like Fall on Monday morning. Here’s a look back at some of the low temperatures this morning.
