LECANTO, Fla. — Two women were killed late Sunday in a wrong-way crash in Lecanto.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Gulf to Lake Highway, just east of South Leona Avenue.
Troopers said 48-year-old Julie Hanselman of Dunnellon was driving westbound in the eastbound lane and collided head-on into a vehicle being driven by Carmen Howe, 47, of Inverness.
The two vehicles struck head-on and erupted in flames.
Both drivers died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
