TAMPA, Fla. — City police have one person in custody and are looking for a second person after a vehicle pursuit ended with a crash.

Tampa Police officials said their officers were alerted to the sounds of gunfire in the vicinity of 24th Avenue and 15th Street Wednesday afternoon by Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies. Working with deputies, they attempted to stop a vehicle they believed was the source of the gunfire.

The vehicle fled from officers, leading to a chase. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle reportedly sideswiped another car and struck a light pole.

The pursuit ended at North 50th Street and East Columbus Drive. The individuals in the car unsuccessfully attempted to carjack another vehicle before fleeing on foot. 

Police took the driver of the car into custody and are searching for the passenger. Officers also recovered at least one firearm that was reportedly tossed from the car.

There were no serious injuries.
