TAMPA, Fla. — A driver who led Tampa police on a chase Wednesday afternoon now faces multiple charges.

  • Driver charged after leading police on a chase
  • Suspect believed to be involving in a drive-by shooting
  • Second suspect still at large, police say

Police were alerted by Hillsborough deputies about a suspect vehicle, described as a black Toyota Avalon, fleeing the area of 24th Avenue and 15th Street where gunshots were heard.

Police officers attempted to stop the Toyota that was believed to be involved in the gunfire, but the vehicle sped away.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it sideswiped a car and ran into a pole at Columbus Drive and 50th Street.

After the crash the suspects fled on foot. The driver, identified as Reginald Mosley, was caught a little later after he unsuccessfully attempted to carjack another vehicle.

Police say the passenger of the suspect vehicle remains at large.

Officials say the two suspects were believed to be involved in a drive-by shooting.

Hillsborough County deputies recovered two firearms that were tossed from the vehicle.

Officials said no one was injured in the shooting.

Mosley is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police, driving with license suspended, leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, attempted carjacking, battery, and violation of probation.
