TAMPA, Fla. — Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal July shooting in the parking lot of a McDonald's.

Marquez Davon Roberts, 19, was charged with first-degree felony murder and carrying a concealed firearm. Dontae Lamar Hopkins, 17, was charged with third-degree felony murder with a firearm.

The shooting occurred July 20 at the restaurant on South Dale Mabry Highway.

Tampa Police said Nicholas Mortazavi, 20, drove to the restaurant's parking lot to sell marijuana to Roberts.

During the deal, investigators said Roberts paid Mortazavi with counterfeit money, and a struggle ensued.

"During the confrontation, both Roberts and Dontae Lamar Hopkins armed themselves with firearms," police said in a news release.

Mortazavi was shot and killed.

Police announced the arrests Monday after the case had been taken to a grand jury.
