Polk authorities are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened Monday night in Winter Haven.

The crash happened in the Wahneta area just after 9 p.m.
Authorities said a man was struck and killed by a vehicle being driven by a 23-year-old Auburndale woman on Rifle Range Road near 11th Street East.
Deputies said the man darted out onto the road and the woman was unable to stop her vehicle and struck him. It appears he was crossing from the west side of the road to the east side of the road.
Officials said the woman was not speeding and that her and her son were wearing seatbelts. They were not injured.
Traffic deputies are still investigating and trying to identify the victim.
Ridge Road was shut down for three hours overnight.
