  • Water main break in Tampa neighborhood
  • Result is a 10-foot hole in front of homes in 12400 block of Mondragon Drive
  • Code Enforcement crews on scene; repairs ongoing

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a call came in around midnight from residents that water was spewing out of the ground in the 12400 block of Mondragon Drive in the Logan Gate subdivision.

Code Enforcement workers responded to the scene and have shut off the water in the area and are addressing the water main break. Officials said there was a fire hydrant in that spot as well where the water main break happened.

However, officials were not sure if the water main break caused the hydrant to break or if the hydrant malfunctioned and damaged the water main.

Officials said there are no homes in danger and no evacuations were ordered.

Crews expect to be at the scene for several hours repairing the damage but work can begin to refill the 10-foot hole.

There were no injuries reported.
