Police in St. Petersburg are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

It happened Wednesday night as a vehicle headed south on 34th Street North hit a pedestrian in the street.

Police say the man crossed in front of the car and that the driver didn’t have time to swerve or stop.

The pedestrian, who hasn’t been identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed, according to police.
