Pinellas Park police are searching for the driver who fatally struck a 56-year-old bicyclist in a hit-and-run Tuesday night.

Police say John Robert Glenn Instasi, a transient with family out of state, was struck while trying to cross 66th Street N westbound at 121st Avenue N.

Instasi, who did not have any lights on his bike, was struck in the right curb lane of 66th Street, and died on scene, according to the report. 

The suspect vehicle, described as a light colored, older model SUV with possible damage to the front end, fled from the scene, police said. 

The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on 66th Street toward Ulmerton Road, the report stated. 

All northbound lanes of 66th Street were shut down during the investigation.
