Dozens of bikers will participate in the 4th annual Phoebe Jonchuck Memorial Ride Sunday.

  • 4th annual Phoebe Jonchuck Memorial Ride today
  • Memorial Ride went from Largo to Skyway Bridge
  • Phoebe was killed in 2015 by her father

The memorial ride is in remembrance of Phoebe Jonchuch, whose life was taken too soon.

Phoebe was just 5-years-old when her father, John Jonchuck, threw her off the Dick Misner Bridge in January of 2015.

Jonchuck was charged with first degree murder. His trial is expected to start in September.

In the wake of her death, a scholarship fund was created in her memory.

The ride will honor her memory and raise money for scholarships that will give other children a chance to succeed.

Phoebe's grandmother, Michele Jonchuck, joined in on the memorial ride.

"She way my princess angel and she'll always stay my princess angel," Michele said.

Bikers rode from Largo to the north end of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Sunday afternoon.

"It didn't matter if you knew her, you didn't know her family, to know that a child’s life was thrown away, literally thrown away, we need to figure out something to keep this from happening. It's too devastating," community member Maryellen Keller said.

Three years later, her legacy lives on.

After the ride, Phoebe’s loved ones and members of the biker community met near the Dick Misner bridge, said a prayer, and dropped hundreds of flowers into the water.

"It's hard but yet it's peaceful to know that people haven't forgotten," Michele said.

As the flowers floated away, Jonchuck said she knew Phoebe was watching over with a smile.

"Phoebe I love you with all my heart and you'll never ever be forgotten,” she said.
