The national tour of "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" is playing at the Straz Center this week.

The show follows the early life of Carole King, showing how she became the composer and singer songwriter we now know and love. The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2014 and won two Tony awards for best leading actress in a musical and best sound design of a musical.

Andrew Brewer plays Carole's husband, Gerry Goffin, in the show.

"The show covers from the beginning of their marriage to when it starts to fall apart and Carole finds herself and goes out on her own," Brewer said.

"I think the fun thing about the show is you get to see the behind the scenes of all the songs so you kind of get to see what was going on in their personal life kind of what was behind each of the songs and the emotions and kind of all that stuff that kind of goes with that," he added.

And there's probably a few songs you didn't know Carole or Gerry were behind.

"The Locomotion" is one of the popular numbers in the show. Dance Captain Traci Lee took me through some of the moves.

"We've got a lot of high energy numbers a lot of numbers that kind of sit in the pocket give you a little bit of a groove," Lee said.

One thing is for sure though -- these songs will definitely have you dancing and singing in your seats.

The show is here until April 1.
