Christie New was found badly injured at Lake Maggiore Park on March 1 by a park employee.

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but passed away on March 7.

St. Petersburg Police are investigating her death and detectives are looking for tips to help bring closure to her family.

"Just say something so we can piece some things together," said her sister, Deanna New. "If you saw her somewhere else that day, whatever the case may be, just understand that this was a mom, this was my sister, this was a daughter."

Deanna New lives in Birmingham and spoke with Spectrum Bay News 9 via Facetime.

"She was amazing, obviously. You know, she had an ability to come into a room, you knew she was in the room and she was going to know everybody in that room before she left."

She doesn't know why here sister was in St. Petersburg.

"She had driven to Ocala to take her horses to a trainer that's there, and they were going to be doing some work," Deanna New said. "That was on Tuesday. That was the last I spoke with her."

Anyone with information on her death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
