One year ago, Evvie McKinney’s life changed forever, when she won televised singing competition, The Four and was signed to her first major record deal. She traded her hometown of Memphis for Los Angeles.

  • Singer won televised singing contest and landed a major record deal
  • Deal led her to relocated from Memphis to Los Angeles
  • She credits her faith with helping to keep her on track

“It’s so funny because even being like knee high, being a little girl in my church in Memphis, Tennessee, they would call me 'Miss Hollywood,' and I would be like ‘Ms. Hollywood?'” McKinney said.

Now Miss Hollywood has begun living out her dreams, performing on the biggest stages and spending time with superstars like Cardi B.

The 21-year-old went from 5,000 Instagram followers to over 260,000, and her schedule is so busy, she hasn't had time to take down her Christmas tree. But for McKinney, chasing her show biz dream in L.A. is not always easy.

“It’s a lot of fakes and lots of phonies out here and sometimes it gets a little nerve-wracking,” McKinney added.

At times her love of music can even be a challenge.

“Sometimes I say, 'Why haven’t I come out with another single?' But I have to realize this career is not just my career. It’s literally the career that God has given me,” the singer said.

It’s her faith in God driving her. Now she’s working on new music and has big time goals.

“I want a Grammy and I know God is gonna give it to me,” McKinney proclaimed.

With her talent and head on her shoulders who knows just how far voice can carry her.
