The agency announced the arrest on their Twitter account, saying a tip through Crime Stoppers led them to the driver of the vehicle.

John Mowry, 43, was riding his bike across U.S 19 at Holiday Hills Boulevard Saturday evening when FHP says a driver hit him and drove off.

Investigators believe the vehicle was a 2004 Saturn Ion coupe, which now has front end damage.

Mowry's family was offering a $2,000 reward for anyone who came forward with information about the case.

One of Mowry's brothers, David, told us Mowry struggled with addiction for years and was homeless for nearly a decade. He says his family tried countless times to get him help, but his addiction took over his life.

“He was a great guy," David Mowry said. "Big heart. Very smart guy. He was a restauranteur, he knew how to run restaurants,  he was a mechanic."
