PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A rural part of Pasco County could soon see new industry and jobs come in.

The area near State Road 52 and I-75 is ripe for development.

The land just southwest of Bellamy Brothers Blvd and SR 52 may eventually become a mixed use industrial sight.

Just east, the area on the other side of I-75 and SR 52 is being targeted by a developer, also looking to build industrial and office space.

That proposal is considered “speculative,” meaning the buildings are constructed before they are leased.

What exactly would go there remains to be seen, but the prospects excite Pasco County’s President of Economic Development, Bill Cronin.

“The fact that you have companies starting to target that area means that they’re seeing the same things we’ve been talking about,” Cronin said.

The new proposals come as the widening project on SR 52 near I-75 gets finished. It’s going from a two-lane road to a four-lane road.

That widening makes access to Pasco County off of the interstate much easier.

Pasco economic leaders think that area is ripe for development since it’s close to major roads like 75 and would provide jobs for folks all over the Bay Area.

“I think it’s one of our most important pieces of property in Pasco County to have the biggest potential for a large scale operation to hire lots of people,” Cronin said.

Many of these proposals still need county approval.
