PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is taking a new approach to optimizing the performance of its members.

The sheriff's office has become the first law enforcement agency in the country to partner with EXOS, a human performace company that will help deputies with physical and mental health.

The program will give officers numerous resources to different facets of life improvement, including diet and fitness, mental health, and sleep improvement.

The goal is to reduce job-related injuries, extending the careers of members, and improving the overall quality of life.

The company EXOS uses state of the art technology and works with clients like special ops and professional athletes.

The program will takes aspects from sports performance and military training, but gear it toward a more law enforcement-driven environment.

The program will eventually staff a small number of specialists, such as performance dietitians, physical therapists, a sports psychologist, and strength and conditioning coaches, to better address the specific needs of officers.

As an initial phase of this program, a new Resilience Center recently opened, with state-of-the-art gym equipment and additional connections to specific resources and guidance.

Bay News 9's Tim Wronka will have more information on this new program and show off the new Resilience Center today at 5 p.m.
