Teenagers around the Tampa Bay area went on a shopping spree for prom dresses this weekend - for free.

The Belle of the Ball Project is a nonprofit organization that collects new and used prom dresses and donates them to high school girls.

The goal is to provide the girls with their dream dresses, without their families having the financial burden. The girls shopped more than 3,000 dresses in stock this year.

"We can help them feel wonderful, feel like a princess, keep up with their peers, give them self-esteem, just make the evening wonderful and special for them," said Susan Svchwartz, the Founder and CEO of Belle of the Ball Project.

"It's really making some dreams come true. It's a little thing, but it's really big in their world,” said Jessi Ballard, a volunteer with the program.

The boutique is located at 1210 Holt Avenue in Clearwater. The next shopping dates are April 6 and April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can donate used dresses to the program by dropping them off at any Sun Country Cleaners locations throughout the area.
